Marine Mom

Well, it's Saturday night and I am excited to say that we were able to talk to Nate twice today and once last night on Skype.  So I guess I should say that we not only talked to him, but were able to see him....even better!  He moved the camera around today and showed us his room that he shares with 2 other guys...it's about the size of my bedroom closet!  He is getting settled and into a sort of routine.  He is just waking up and getting ready for work at about 9:00pm our time, which means that he gets to skype Mav to tell him goodnight before he leaves for work.  Often he also gets to skype him when he gets home from work before he goes to bed too.  How amazing to be in Afghanistan and still be able to talk to your child twice a day!  You have to love technology (sometimes).  :)

He said that they eat alot of white rice and curry dishes.  His stomach is doing better with that, but we go over the list of foods he would like us to send everytime we talk.  He said all of the guys put their extra items from care packages outside of their doors so that everyone can share.  I thought that was pretty cool.

It feels much better to be talking to him and seeing him.  It feels less "unknown" I guess.  I get that the danger is still there and all of that, but I'm not just setting here wondering and letting my mind go crazy.  I'm seeing him, I'm talking to him, I have action to take by putting together care packages...it somehow makes it a little easier.  I miss him like crazy, but at least I don't have to go all of this time without having any contact with him.
